To me, Laya was like a second mother. As kids we all spent our summers out in Michigan , splashing in the lake and playing on the beach. Except for Laya- she NEVER went in the water!! She was a loving friend to both my parents and I will remember her infectious laugh twinkling bright eyes and wise words always . As my daughter said when she was a little girl: “Laya is my favorite woman”

Laya was the person who helped me realize that I could start college in my early twenties after years of self doubt. I have never forgotten the role she played in my journey and am forever grateful. Her goodness lives on in so many others. May her memory be a blessing.

'''''''''Dear Family of Laya,
I have very fond memories of Cousin Laya when she would come to visit us in Minneapolis. She loved coming to our lake house on Lake Minnetonka in the summer. I have a vivid memory of her modern dancing in our living room to music. She was so graceful! I send my hugs and heartfelt sympathy to ALL The Cousins on the loss of dear Laya. The funeral was a tremendous tribute to her. Larry and I are with all of you in spirit. With Love, Naomi and Larry Rivkin
