My husband, Bruce, grew up with Bobby in Pittsburgh. As a result, I met Bobby a handful of times over the years at family events.

Almost two years ago, Bruce and I returned to Pittsburgh for Lila Snyder's funeral. A large group of us stayed in a hotel, where family and friends came to pay their respects. At the time, Bobby was working as a tutor/coach for high school students. He shared some of his insight with me in an effort to help me with my own son. He even followed up later by emailing me an article. I was touched by his kindness and remember it to this day.

My brother Bruce and I spent our entire childhood growing up in Pittsburgh in tandem with Amy and Barry Snyder. Along with that existence were intermittent memories I can recall with Billy and Bobby Reichblum: summers at Westmoreland, dinners on both Fair Oaks and Solway streets, and visits with Mum Mum at the Oliver House. Many, many years later (past 4 to be exact), Bobby and I were recently re-introduced at Aunt Lilaâ??s 80th birthday celebration, her funeral (I think of her with love every day), and most recently, Michael Gitnerâ??s wedding. I now hold those exchanges very dear to my heart. Every time, Bobby was so genuinely warm and truly enjoyed engaging my mom and me as we reminisced. I will always recall his kind words and smile.
Aunt Audrey, Uncle Chuck, and Billy: my heart is with you.
Amy and Barry: I am in awe of your non-stop kindness and love for family - no matter what it takes. I love you both.
Diane and family: you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Back in 1990, Bob staged a Weekend Weathercaster Search to find a new meteorologist for WJLA. Like hundreds of others, I entered the contest and somehow emerged as one of the 8 finalists who auditioned live during a February sweeps. Bob couldn't have been kinder or more reassuring to us would-be forecasters as we did our best to impress. Maybe he saw what I might become or recognized the unique dialect of another Pittsburgher, but whatever it was, Bob hired me. And he gave me the best advice any news director- or anybody - could give to anyone: "Dave, you don't have to do or be anything different from what you showed me in your audition. Just go out there and be yourself." Having just retired from WJLA after 25 years, I can say that without Bob, I would never have had a second career, one I never anticipated. He had faith in this school teacher and judging by the outpouring of regret and sadness when he left us for Miami, he impacted all the employees at WJLA with his love and empathy.

Bob tutored my son for the past two years. What a genuinely kind man. He was incredibly helpful to my son and he could not have been nicer. My son always looked forward to working with Bob and benefited greatly from his guidance and instruction. And he was so sweet to always bring my son a doughnut at the start of every session. I am certain that his passing is a tremendous loss to his family as my family and I will miss his upbeat, cheerful presence in our home once or twice a week. Blessings and strength to his family and other loved ones. He was one of a kind. A
