OBITUARY

Frances Altman, 86

Born in Chicago, IL, February 24, 1925. Died on August 9, 2011 after a short illness. Frances lived a long and wonderful life, filled with love for her family, devotion to friends, a passion for travel, the quest for knowledge and the never-ending journey for fun. She never wanted to miss out on anything and throughout her life participated in a variety of programs, classes and lectures. She loved theatre, cinema and music and spent many summer evenings enjoying the performances at Ravinia. Her feisty spirit and zest for life will be greatly missed. Frances Altman (Rosenstiel) was born to Dr. Max and Esther Rosenstiel. Fran graduated from Senn High School and went on to earn a degree in Speech Pathology from Northwestern University. Frances was a public school teacher, a real estate agent and an election judge, and volunteered for many organizations including Hadassah, Brandeis, B'nai Brith and ORT. She will be greatly missed by her four loving children and their spouses, Nancy Etsekson (Paul), Judy Anderson (Lewis Jones), Cindy Levy(Sandy) and Geoffrey Altman, as well as her 9 grandchildren, Chloe, Michele, Caroline (Bobby Pflum), Billy, Jaclyn, Danielle, Juliette, Matias and Pilar. She was the loving sister of the late Arthur Rosenstiel and his surviving wife , Jean Crown. She was married to Harry Altman for 28 years and they remained good friends after their divorce.

A memorial celebration will be held at The Park at Vernon Hills on August 12, 2011 from 2:30-4:30, with a service starting at 3:00 P.M., at 145 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Vernon Hills, IL 60061, (847) 793-2470. A private graveside service will be held for family only.
