OBITUARY

Mollie Schaffer, nee Weinstein, 95

Beloved wife of the late Jacob. Devoted mother of Roberta Schaffer (the late Judd Silverman), Cyndee (Douglas Schwartz) Schaffer and Joel (Peggy) Schaffer. Loving grandmother of Ariel (Jonah Shifrin) Schwartz, Jordan Schwartz, Amy (Kevin) Mackett, and the late Matthew Schwartz. Loving great grandmother of Addison, Evelyn and Delano Mackett. Dear sister of Jack Weinstein and the late Rebecca Winston. A special thanks goes to her caregivers, Una, Lidiya, and Rose, who took such good care of Mollie these last few years. Mollie was proud to be part of the "Greatest Generation", serving as a WAC (Women’s Army Corp) during World War II. She was stationed in London, England during the buzz bombing, landed on the beaches of Normandy 6 weeks after D-Day, was stationed in Paris after its liberation, and finally was part of the Army of Occupation in Frankfurt, Germany. She co-authored the book "Mollie’s War" which recounted her WWII experiences. Services Wednesday, 12 noon at Temple Beth- El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook, IL, 60062. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shore Community Services 4232 Dempster Skokie, Illinois 60076, Temple Beth-El , or to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
