OBITUARY

Alan Benjamin Miller was born on February 25, 1944, and died on October 9, 2015, from Pancreatic Cancer. Alan, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith Levy Miller, his daughters, Danielle Miller Wagner (Joseph Wagner), Jessica Klein (Daniel Klein), grandchildren Ethan, Micah, Andrew and Abby, and sister-in-law Linda (Robert) Kanter, niece, Laura Kanter and nephews, David and Aaron Kanter. He was predeceased by his son Gabriel William, and his parents Elaine and Sidney. He provided unconditional love and support to his family and many friends and admirers. A fierce litigator with a generous heart, Alan had a 48 year legal career and provided passionate legal support to his clients, many of whom became dear friends. Born to Elaine and Sidney Miller in Chicago, Alan attended Nettlehorst Elementary School, Senn High School, University of Illinois at Chicago (BA), Northwestern (JD), University of Chicago (MBA). A lifelong music lover, Alan played clarinet and piano as a child and continued his love of music as an adult as a member of Kol Zimrah choir. He regularly attended musical theater and Jewish music performances.
In addition to music, Alan's passions included politics, the law, his family and especially the foundation he created to remember and honor the memory of his son, Gabriel, through support of the social work profession ( www.Gabesfoundation.org). Shiva will be held at the Miller residence, 1790 Ridgelee Road, Highland Park.
Shiva will also be held at the Wagner home in Bethseda, Maryland, on Saturday October 17, from 6:30-9PM. The Kleins will be receiving those wishing to pay condolences at the Klein home at 40832 Kingsley Lane, Novi, Michigan, on Sunday, October 18th from 4-8PM.
